The stench was the first thing that hit me. I swear, the whole place smelled like dog feces wrapped in banana peels. I quickly covered my nose to prevent myself from vomiting.
“This smells awful,” I said with a muffled voice.
“It’s not exactly roses, but I think we’ll manage,” responded Daniel.
I looked back at him. “How can you joke in a time like this?” I asked.
“Simple,” he said, “Just always remember that things will eventually work out,” he said.
“How can you be like that if you don’t actually know what’s going to happen?” I asked.
